I have spent 91 days in Italy. I have retraced the steps of the ancients and marveled at the beauty of every corner of Rome. Followed the scent of lemon and orange trees in Naples and the words of poets in Florence and Venice. There aren’t enough lifetimes to take it all in, the moveable feast, the feast for all senses, the outdoor art museum, the history, the blood, the death, the life teeming with possibilities and memories and forgetting.
This is taken from above the Roman Forum, from my favorite standing point to take in the sweeping grandeur of the ruins. It’s also where Tom Ripley stands to admire the forum in the film, The Talented Mr. Ripley.
